Notices and News – Events Coming Soon

HOOK PCC CHARITY SUPPORT – We’d like you to nominate a charity you think the PCC could financially support during 2018.  A form is available for this – collect one today or email the office to get the electronic version, and return by 31st October.  The Finance Committee will then shortlist charities for the full PCC to vote on.  Types of charities which are more likely to make the shortlist are those who we can actively engage with, for example by inviting a speaker to visit us, or via information we can publish on our Missions Notice Board.  There is more information on this, plus an example nomination form, on the Missions Notice Board now.  If you have any questions, please ask Nikki Wild, or one of the Finance Committee.  Our names are on the Missions Notice Board.

LYCIG COURSE

Thank you so much to all who have contributed to this course since the summer and for all your ideas and feedback. We are so thrilled to have begun new things, and will feed ideas into our Parish Mission Action Planning. Please pray for the Hook team meeting on Weds 25th October, and the HMR team meeting shortly after.

LICENSED LAY MINISTERS & COMMISSIONED MINISTERS

Fantastic to have our team growing: Jennifer, Jonathan as LLM, Alan as PTO LLM, and Shirley and Carol-Anne as Bishops Commission for Mission Pastoral Missioners.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING - Please may I say thank you to everyone who came along and supported this event at St. John's Church, Hook. Special thanks to Rev. Marion and my enthusiastic team of helpers - Becky, Jacqueline, Jenny, Maureen, Pattie and Stella;   and visitors Betty and Les with their colourful display of knitted toys.

My appreciation also is for those who kindly gave donations of cash, cakes, biscuits and raffle prizes;   and to Sue Dawson who generously donated her sweepstake prize money to this special charity - her guess of 90cm was nearest to the correct answer of 94cm for the height of the yummy cake tower!

It was an enjoyable and sociable event resulting in my very happily sending £330 to Macmillan Cancer Support which offers expert care and support in various ways for everyone who needs them, when they need them most. Shirley Clancy (01256) 763329

DEC COLLECTION – Thank you to all who contributed to the collection at St John’s on 16th October for the DEC appeal for Rohingyan refugees.  A total of £489 has been sent to the DEC via Christian Aid.

GIFT AND BOTTLE BAGS REQUIRED! – Do you have any gift or bottle bags you can donate to Rosie Mandry for the raffle that is being held on the evening of Rev’d Peter Hewlett Smith’s talk on travels through Asia on Friday 17th November at 7.30pm.
