Prayers for use during the coronavirus outbreak

prayersThe Church of England has a number of publications you might find useful at this time:

From John 16 verse 32:
The hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each one to his home, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me. I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace.

Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy
in this time of uncertainty and distress. Sustain and support the anxious and fearful, and lift up all who are brought low;
that we may rejoice in your comfort knowing that nothing can separate us
from your love in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.

Merciful God,
we entrust to your tender care
those who are ill or in pain,
knowing that whenever danger threatens your everlasting arms
are there to hold them safe.
Comfort and heal them,
and restore them to health and strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

God of love and hope,
you made the world and care for all creation, but the world feels strange right now.
The news is full of stories about Coronavirus.
Some people are worried that they might get ill. Others are anxious for their family and friends. Be with them and help them to find peace.
We pray for the doctors and nurses and scientists, and all who are working to discover the right medicines to help those who are ill.
Thank you that even in these anxious times, you are with us.
Help us to put our trust in you and keep us safe.
Amen.

Whilst we are locked down at home, there can be many challenges, especially for those who are vulnerable. We have a local pastoral care telephone: 07793 078 062 which is monitored 24/7 for you to let us know your prayer requests and for any other support we are able to offer at this time.

This picture is of some bluebells taken recently in Basset's Mead in Hook - we are lucky we live in such a beautiful part of the world, and although our horizons are reduced at this time, it can be uplifting to just look at the flowers and plants around us.
