Notices & News

Updated Guidance For Those Attending Church

The Church of England has updated its advice on face coverings in church: to strongly advise that face coverings should be worn by all those attending a place of worship, including ministers, worshippers, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors, where there may be other people present; remembering that they are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus COVID-19 and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing.

Vacancy for Benefice Administrator & St John’s Church Cleaner

The closing date of 31st July is today. We have had a very large number of applications, so please do pray for the shortlisting team and the prospective candidates.

Plastic-free July is coming to an end today (Friday)!

Plastic free july

see www.plasticfreejuly.org (or follow @PlasticFreeJuly on twitter).

Many of us are rethinking our shopping habits; and reducing plastic where we can.

Want to test your knowledge of plastic and win a prize? Look out for the quiz on our website on Friday 31 July - you have until Sunday morning to enter! You could be a winner!  Thanks to Kim for organising.

Litter Pick thank you

Thank you from our local Hook Parish Council for the Litter pick on Saturday 11th July: Marian Bright, Senior Administrative Officer (Environment & Community) writes: “Glad to hear that the people taking part in the litter pick felt they had achieved something out of the litter pick. Since lockdown has eased more people are picnicking in Hartlett’s and eating takeaways.  So even though the bins are emptied three times a week, they get full and people then pile up their litter next to the bins.  The hard working Hart litter pickers are finding their normal rounds are taking longer and longer and they are collecting more and more litter.  So your group efforts on the 11th were very much appreciated by them as well as the residents of Hook that saw you out and about. Litter is something that most people don’t notice until bins are overflowing or someone steps on a broken piece of glass.  However, even in Hook, it is all around us.  If it wasn’t for people like you and your group of volunteers and the Hart litter pickers we could be ankle deep in litter.  Your efforts are very much appreciated”.
