We appreciate a wide variety of music in our Benefice Churches. During the covid crisis, we have discovered a wide range of gifts within our church families. We have organists, pianists, drummers, flautists, guitarists, singers and our choir in Hook. We are enjoying a variety of music in our video-conferencing services on Zoom, on Sunday morning at 10am.

St John’s Church, Hook, is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music and has an active robed choir of around 20 singers.

The choir consists of two sections, the Juniors and Seniors (adults), who normally sing together to enhance worship. Music from a variety of styles is sung, from plainsong through to modern worship music, both accompanied and unaccompanied. Those choir members who wish to do so have an opportunity to gain awards from the Royal School of Church Music awards schemes.

During lockdown the choir hold regular practices at 8pm on a Friday, although singing in Church is not possible at the moment, the choir will record hymns and anthems which are used in our Online Services or Services via Zoom. If you are interested in singing with the choir in the first instance talk to our Director of Music, Stephen Davies on (01256) 764574.
