Hart District is host to many Ukrainian refugees and we have had the pleasure of getting to know them over the past few months. We have also been working with Hart Voluntary Action to help support Ukrainian people locally. Many of our guests are now working and we are continuing to support them. Please talk to Simon de Quidt to find out more.
It's great news that some of our Ukrainian refugees have found accommodation after leaving their host families. However, they have very little and we are seeking help to assist with furnishings etc. The items required are: plates, frying pans, sauce pans, kitchen utensils, garden furniture, lamp shades, pillows, knives, chopping boards, tin opener, glasses, house plants, coffee table, baking items, baking trays, mirrors, iron. If you can help, please contact Gill Morley or Simon de Quidt.
In August 2022 (Ukraine Independence Day), we hosted an event at St John's and had over 100 Ukrainian guests and their host families from across Hart. There was a bring and share of Ukrainian food which looked and tasted so scrumptious. A big thank you to Gill & Richard and the team for all the behind the scenes organising to bring the event together. In fact the event was so much fun, we repeated it in 2023. It was a privilege to be able to share a little of their culture, thank you.
